President’s Welcome

President’s Welcome

Welcome WPOSC Members and Potential Members,

This year we celebrate the 70th birthday of the United States Air Force.  The Wright Patterson Officers’ Spouses’ Club (WPOSC) is proud to be marking the beginning of our 73rd year – yes, the establishment of the WPOSC predates the formation of the USAF! Whether you are a returning member, have just arrived at Wright-Patt, or are returning to the base for another tour, I am excited to invite you to join us in celebration of the 73rd year of this wonderful group.

Military spouses know the importance of friendships and connections and realize that our connections grow and change as we PCS.  At the WPOSC, we strive to help our members successfully navigate and thrive in this environment.  We have young members that are dealing with their first duty station and more seasoned members that have been through it all.  Many of us live far from our families and find a new type of family among our military friends.  We hope that you can use our club as a jumping off point as you create your support network and build your military family.

Our Board of Governors plans our events and activities, oversees our amazing Thrift Shop, and ensures that our club is effectively serving our community through our welfare and scholarship programs.  Our board members represent multiple services and bring distinct levels of experience to the club.  We are so lucky to have such a diverse group of people representing our membership!

The WPOSC is proud to encourage and foster friendships among its members.  Our monthly general meetings offer fun and interesting social events, and we offer numerous other membership activities, from Playgroup and Bunco to Book Club and Photography.  We also sponsor Wright-Patt’s International Spouses Group.  Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t note that one of our activities, Mah Jongg, holds a special place in the history of our club.  The Wright Patterson Mah Jongg Rules are used all over the world!  There is something for everyone and our activities provide wonderful opportunities to meet new people and have fun.

Giving back to the community has been an integral part of our mission since the beginning, and our biggest community effort is centered on our Base Thrift Shop.  The Thrift Shop is in Area A, next to Outdoor Rec in Building 95, and all proceeds from the Thrift Shop are donated directly back into our community.  The Thrift Shop is always looking for volunteers!  We also update our members as other volunteer opportunities arise both on and off base.  We are proud of all our WPOSC volunteers who selflessly serve our local community.

On the topic of volunteering, Wright Patterson AFB is fortunate to host The National Museum of the United States Air Force, and this wonderful facility is home to a group of special WPOSC volunteers.  These volunteers serve as Museum Guides and help teach our youngest museum visitors about the history and ongoing saga of the USAF and the remarkable aircraft housed in the museum.

I welcome you to Wright-Patt and invite you to join us in our endeavors.  We look forward to a successful 73rd year filled with exciting programs, engaging activities, rewarding volunteer opportunities and lasting friendships.

Warm wishes,
Jen Bray
